Investment Newsletters
The library subscribes to a number of investment newsletters covering the world of stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The most recent issues can be found in the Investment section of the Business Reference Department at Lawson McGhee Library. One of these is The Hulbert Financial Digest, which provides a critique of other investment newsletters by analyzing the performance of their stock and mutual fund picks.

Provides opinion and analysis on the current state of the stock market, as well as on selected stocks.

Focuses on stocks, providing detailed analysis on spotlighted stocks, and opinion pieces on the direction of the markets. Also includes a one-page Mutual Fund Corner.

From Standard & Poor's, this newsletter provides opinion and analysis on the current state of the economy, as well as selected individual stocks.
Newsletters - Mutual Funds


Covers the world of mutual funds, including analysis of the industry and selected funds, personal investment advice, and performance data on the Morningstar 500.
ALT Tag for Image
Provides performance data on hundreds of no-load stock and bond mutual funds. Offers opinions on "best buys" for specific types of portfolios, and provides substantial coverage of funds offered by Vanguard, T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, and Schwab.

Historical Quotes
Need to find an old price for a stock or mutual fund? Try this site. If the security is no longer active, try back issues of the New York Times, or the Wall Street Journal, which can be found in the Periodicals Room at Lawson McGhee Library.
Old Securities
If you’re holding an old stock certificate or insurance policy, but can’t find contact information for the company issuing it, the company may be out of business, merged into, or been bought out by another company. The Directory of Obsolete Securities will help you track the company down.
